Creating Smarter Commercial Spaces: How VRF Solutions Can Help Meet Evolving Building Needs
This news is about commercial building equipment, not something most homeowners would install. LG Electronics is promoting its "Multi V" line of variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems — a type of heating and cooling setup that connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit, so different rooms or zones can be heated or cooled separately. These systems are aimed at office buildings, schools, hotels, malls and apartment high-rises, not single-family homes.
The lineup includes two versions. The Multi V i is a large, high-capacity system meant for big properties, with AI features that track occupancy, temperature and humidity to adjust performance and let facility managers set energy-use targets. It can keep cooling in very hot outdoor temperatures and keep heating down to 5 degrees Fahrenheit. The Multi V S is a smaller, more compact version meant for buildings with limited outdoor space, such as smaller commercial buildings, restaurants and multi-family residential properties. It's built to keep heating even in temperatures well below zero, runs quieter at night, and has a coating designed to resist corrosion from salt or pollution.
Both systems can connect to a mix of hidden, ceiling-mounted, or wall-mounted indoor units, letting building managers control temperature room by room. For homeowners, this is background industry news about commercial equipment — it doesn't apply to typical house-sized heating and cooling systems or come with any rebate or program details relevant to residential upgrades.
