Connecticut Green Bank Opens 18th Green Liberty Note Offering and Announces Upcoming Electric School Bus Investment Opportunity

October 6, 2026 · Connecticut Green Bank · Score: 44

The Connecticut Green Bank has opened its 18th Green Liberty Note offering, a way for everyday people to invest in clean energy projects around the state. This round will fund energy efficiency upgrades for small businesses through Eversource's Small Business Energy Advantage program. Anyone, in Connecticut or elsewhere, can invest starting at $100 through the Green Bank's partner, Honeycomb Credit, and this offering comes with a higher interest rate than before. Investors who put money into the 14th through 17th offerings get a rate boost if they invest again now. The program has drawn more than $5 million since it started in 2021.

Later this fall, the Green Bank plans a separate offering tied to a specific project: electrifying the entire school bus fleet in Branford, including two-way charging equipment that can send power back to the grid, a first for the region. The buses are already running. This effort supports a state law requiring Connecticut school districts to shift 90 percent of their bus fleets to zero-emission vehicles by 2040, and Branford will be the first district to hit that target. Investors in this future offering will also be able to donate part or all of their interest earnings to a local organization.

None of this requires action from homeowners right now, but it points to more opportunities ahead for Connecticut residents who want to put money directly into local clean energy projects, whether a business efficiency upgrade down the street or an electric bus parked at a nearby school.
