CertainTeed releases new solar roofing system Landmark PWR

September 28, 2026 · Solar Power World · Score: 35

Roofing maker CertainTeed has a new product called Landmark PWR, which builds solar power generation directly into a regular-looking shingle roof instead of mounting separate solar panels on top. The solar shingles are made with half-cut solar cells assembled into 4-foot-long strips, each producing 85 watts, and they sit closer to the roof surface than standard panels. They're designed to blend in with regular asphalt shingles, so only part of the roof needs to be covered in solar shingles while the rest uses matching Landmark asphalt shingles.

This is CertainTeed's third solar roofing product line, alongside its SunStyle solar tiles and Solstice solar shingles. Landmark PWR outperforms the Solstice line, which tops out at 70 watts per shingle using full-sized solar cells rather than the half-cut cells in the new system.

For homeowners weighing solar options, this adds another "solar shingle" choice to the market, aimed at people who want power generation without the look of bulky panels bolted onto the roof, or who are replacing a roof anyway and want to combine the job with adding solar. Landmark PWR is set to become available on November 1, 2026. No pricing has been announced, so anyone interested in comparing it to traditional rooftop solar panels or other shingle-integrated systems will need to wait for cost details before it's clear how it stacks up financially.
