Ceer unveils its EXOBOT EVs, Saudi Arabia’s first electric SUV and sedan
This one's about new electric vehicles, not home energy upgrades, so it won't affect your house or any rebate programs you're tracking. Still, here's what happened: Saudi Arabia's first homegrown car brand, Ceer, unveiled its first EVs, a large SUV and a sedan called Exobot. Both are part of a planned lineup of seven vehicles the brand wants to release over the next five years, ranging from compact to midsize models.
The SUV runs on a 112 kWh battery with an estimated range up to 448 miles and 850 horsepower from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. It uses an 800-volt electrical system, which lets it charge from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes. The sedan shares the same power and 0-to-62-mph time of 2.6 seconds, with a slightly longer estimated range of about 416 miles. Neither vehicle has a price yet, though the SUV will come in a limited launch version and a customizable model.
The bigger context: Ceer is tied to Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 plan to diversify its economy away from oil, which includes a goal of getting more than half the country's electricity from renewable sources. The company expects to contribute billions to Saudi Arabia's economy by the mid-2030s. For homeowners here, none of this changes available incentives or equipment choices, but it's a sign that EV development and clean-energy investment continue to expand globally.
