Cadillac will hand-build a custom Escalade IQ for you, but it will cost an extra $55,000

August 11, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

This news is about a luxury vehicle option, not a home energy upgrade, so it doesn't affect your house or any rebate program. Still, here's what happened.

Cadillac has launched a new customization program for its electric Escalade IQ SUV called "Curated by Cadillac." Buyers can work with a design concierge to pick from more than 160 exterior colors and finishes and up to 44 interior colors, creating a one-of-one vehicle. Each one is hand-built and hand-painted at Cadillac's Artisan Center in Warren, Michigan, and comes with a unique VIN and a serialized builder's badge.

The catch is cost. The Curated package alone runs $54,995, on top of the vehicle's price. The Escalade IQ itself starts at $127,405, so a fully customized version lands around $182,400. The electric SUV runs on a 212 kWh battery pack (205 kWh usable) with an estimated range of up to 465 miles, and its dual-motor setup produces 750 horsepower with a 0-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds. It also includes GM's Super Cruise driver-assist system, with the 2028 model expected to be GM's first vehicle offering hands-off, eyes-off driving on highways.

The custom Escalade IQ will be sold in the US and Canada for the 2027 model year, with deliveries starting in the second half of 2027. This is a high-end vehicle story, not an energy-efficiency or rebate program update, so there's nothing here that changes what's available for home upgrades.
