BYD reveals prices for its new 1,500hp+ luxury EV sports car start at nearly $200K [Images]

July 9, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

BYD has priced its new electric supercar, the Denza Z, with UK starting prices of £142,900 ($192,000) for the Coupe, £159,900 ($215,000) for the Spider, and £172,900 ($232,000) for the Racing version. The car has three motors putting out a combined 1,582 horsepower, can go from 0 to 62 mph in as little as 1.96 seconds, and tops out at 217 mph. It runs on an 800-volt electrical system that lets it recharge from 10 to 70 percent battery in about five minutes. Range on the WLTP test cycle runs from 236 to 254 miles depending on the version. Sales start in late summer, with deliveries expected by the end of 2026.

This has nothing to do with home energy upgrades. It is a luxury sports car aimed at buyers cross-shopping the Porsche 911 Turbo S, not a vehicle tied to any rebate or weatherization program that would affect your house. The one loosely relevant point: it's another sign that electric vehicles now cover every price and performance tier, from budget commuter cars to six-figure supercars, which may matter if you're weighing an EV purchase alongside home charging or solar plans. But nothing here changes what's available for insulation, heat pumps, or other efficiency work on your home.
