BMW adds new iX3 M60 xDrive with 603 hp and ‘extensive’ M upgrades

October 8, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 3

This is a car news story, not a home energy upgrade topic, so it won't affect your household energy plans or rebates. Still, a quick rundown: BMW has introduced a high-performance version of its electric iX3 SUV, called the iX3 M60 xDrive. It pairs two motors for all-wheel drive and a combined 603 horsepower, letting it go from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds, close to a second quicker than the standard iX3. Top speed rises to 149 mph. The extra power comes from a new rear motor, stator, and inverter, plus a longer gear ratio.

The M60 uses the same 112.2 kWh battery and 800-volt electrical system as the standard iX3, though BMW has not yet released its driving range (the regular iX3 is rated at 434 miles by the EPA). The M-tuned model adds visual changes like new grille lighting, bigger wheel options, a sport-tuned suspension, and an upgraded interior with a large central touchscreen, a sport steering wheel, and an optional premium sound system. It also includes advanced driver-assist features, including a hands-free highway driving option.

BMW plans to open orders in late January 2027, with pricing to follow. The standard iX3 starts at $61,500, so this sportier version will cost more. None of this relates to home energy efficiency or rebate programs — it is simply a new electric vehicle model for buyers interested in a faster, more feature-loaded SUV.
